Knowing facts is no longer enough: students need to express their ideas clearly, work well with others, come up with new solutions and question what they read and hear. These four skills, known as the 4Cs, are at the heart of 21st century learning. This 21st century skills course shows you how to develop communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking in your students through practical activities that fit into any subject and any lesson.
Over five days, you will explore each of the 4Cs in depth and experience activities you can take straight into your classroom. You will practise strategies to help students speak, listen and present with confidence, work effectively in teams, generate original ideas and analyse information with a critical eye. Through hands-on workshops, group challenges and real classroom examples, you will also learn how to combine the 4Cs in the same lesson, create the right classroom climate for them to grow and assess skills that are often seen as difficult to measure.
By the end of the week, you will have designed your own lesson or mini-project that develops the 4Cs in your subject and created a plan to make these skills a regular part of your teaching.
