Description
Inclusion and Diversity: Building a More Equitable Society is an adult education group mobility that helps adults understand diversity, challenge stereotypes and take practical steps to make their communities and organisations more welcoming for everyone. It is designed for adult learners of all backgrounds, including those with fewer learning opportunities, and requires no previous knowledge of the topic. Sessions use plain language, visual materials and interactive activities so everyone can take part fully and safely.
Through dialogue, workshops and team projects, participants explore the many dimensions of diversity, including age, culture, language, ability, social background and beliefs. They learn how stereotypes, prejudice and barriers affect people’s opportunities, practise respectful communication across differences, and discover how to make spaces, activities and information more accessible. The programme also looks at inclusion online, the link between social and environmental fairness, and ways to take part in community life.
Each participant follows a personal learning path, from an initial self-assessment to a final review of competences gained. Participants leave with practical skills in inclusive communication and teamwork, an inclusion toolkit, a learning portfolio and an action plan to promote inclusion in their organisation and local community.
