Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Family Involvement

Duration 5 days

Locations Málaga, Sevilla, Tenerife

Target Audience
Early Childhood & Primary Secondary Leaders & Managers Inclusion / Support Staff

Description

Conflicts are a natural part of school life: between students, between students and staff, among colleagues and sometimes with families. What makes the difference is not whether conflicts happen, but how they are handled. This conflict resolution course gives you practical tools to prevent and manage conflicts calmly, use mediation to help others find their own solutions and build positive, trusting relationships with families. It is designed for anyone working in a school, in primary, secondary and vocational education.

Over five days, you will explore what causes conflict at school and how emotions, communication and different points of view shape it. You will practise key skills such as active listening, assertive communication and de-escalation, and learn how restorative approaches help repair relationships instead of only punishing. You will learn the steps of the mediation process, practise mediating real school situations and discover how to set up a peer mediation programme where students help each other solve conflicts. Finally, you will explore how to engage families as real partners, communicate positively and regularly, and handle difficult conversations with parents with confidence and respect. The course is highly practical, with role-plays, case studies and group work throughout.

By the end of the week, you will have designed a conflict resolution, mediation or family engagement initiative for your school and created a plan to put it into practice.
