Inclusive Classrooms: Strategies for Gifted and Diverse Learners

About this course

Every classroom brings together students with very different abilities, backgrounds and needs, including gifted and high-ability students who need more challenge to stay motivated and keep growing. These students are often overlooked because they seem to be doing well. This Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course gives you practical tools to create an inclusive classroom where every learner can progress and succeed, from those who need extra support to those who need extra challenge.

Over five days, you will explore the key ideas of inclusive education, with a special focus on gifted and talented students and other diverse learners. You will learn how to identify gifted students, including those who are also twice-exceptional, and understand their academic, social and emotional needs. You will then plan differentiated instruction that works in a real classroom, using:

  • enrichment activities that deepen learning
  • extension tasks and open-ended challenges
  • flexible grouping for different needs and goals

You will also discover assessment methods that show each student’s real progress, and ways to build a supportive school culture that values every learner. Through interactive workshops, group discussions and examples from the Spanish education system, you will compare approaches and develop your own plan for a more inclusive classroom.

By the end of this professional development course, you will have a practical action plan and a set of differentiation strategies that promote equity and success for all students.
