This CLIL methodology course is for educators who teach, or will soon teach, their subject through a foreign language, most often English, in diverse and multilingual classrooms. Teaching content and language at the same time is one of the biggest challenges in bilingual schools. Students need to understand complex concepts while still developing their language skills, and in today’s classes they arrive with very different languages, backgrounds and levels. This Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course gives you a clear, practical framework to make CLIL inclusive and effective in any subject, from science and maths to history, art or physical education.
Over five days, you will explore the principles of Content and Language Integrated Learning and turn them into concrete classroom practice. You will learn how to plan inclusive CLIL lessons, scaffold language and content for mixed-ability and multilingual groups, and adapt materials so every student can take part. You will also learn how to encourage students to speak and how to assess both subject knowledge and language. You will discover simple digital tools for CLIL that support understanding, collaboration and differentiation, such as visual organisers, interactive tasks and quizzes. Practical workshops, lesson analysis and collaborative design activities make sure you can apply everything straight away.
By the end of this professional development course, you will have designed your own inclusive CLIL lesson or mini-unit for your subject, received feedback from peers and trainers, and created a plan to strengthen CLIL in your school.
