Climate change and other environmental challenges are among the most important issues students will face in their lives, and artificial intelligence is one of the most powerful tools they will grow up with. This Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course brings the two together. It shows you how to integrate AI into STEM and environmental education through real-world projects on sustainability and climate action.
Over five days, you will explore how machine learning works in a simple, hands-on way. You will use beginner-friendly tools such as Teachable Machine to train small AI models with images, sounds or movements. You will discover how these models can help students raise awareness about environmental problems and design their own solutions: recognising types of waste for recycling, identifying plants and animals, or collecting and analysing local climate and environmental data. Through hands-on activities, collaborative design challenges and reflection, you will see how AI and green technology can support competency-based learning, connect science, technology and sustainability, and encourage students to take climate action in their communities. You will also reflect on the responsible and ethical use of AI with students, including the digital footprint and energy use of the technology itself.
By the end of this professional development course, you will have designed your own AI-powered sustainability project, ready to use in your classroom.
