CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is an effective approach for combining subject learning with language development. Today’s CLIL teaching also needs to respond to multilingual classrooms, mixed-ability groups, inclusion, active learning, and meaningful use of digital tools.
This course helps teachers plan, teach, and assess CLIL lessons in a practical and modern way. Participants will explore how to scaffold language, adapt content for different learner needs, integrate digital resources, and design motivating classroom activities that support both subject understanding and communication.
The course is practical and hands-on. Teachers will create ready-to-use CLIL activities, lesson ideas, and teaching materials connected to their own subjects and school context.
The participant is able to:
understand the role of the CLIL teacher in a multilingual and inclusive classroom
plan CLIL lessons with clear content, communication, cognition, and culture objectives
scaffold subject language for learners with different language levels
design classroom activities that promote interaction, critical thinking, and collaboration
adapt CLIL materials for mixed-ability groups and diverse learning needs
use digital tools to support participation, creativity, assessment, and feedback
create formative and summative assessment tasks suitable for CLIL contexts
develop practical classroom materials ready for immediate use
reflect on their own teaching and transfer CLIL strategies into their school setting
The methodology is based on practical workshops, collaborative tasks, discussion, reflection, peer feedback, and lesson design. Participants work with real classroom examples and create their own CLIL resources throughout the course.
The course includes:
practical workshops and group tasks
lesson and unit planning
micro-teaching and peer feedback
digital tools for CLIL
inclusive and learner-centred strategies
reflection on implementation in different school contexts
By the end of the course, participants will have:
a clearer understanding of CLIL methodology
practical strategies for planning and delivering CLIL lessons
ready-to-use materials and activities
ideas for inclusive and differentiated teaching
improved confidence in integrating language and content learning
an action plan for applying CLIL in their own teaching practice
