Student Wellbeing and Mental Health: From Prevention to Support

About this course

Student wellbeing and mental health are now a priority for every school. Rising anxiety, stress, low mood and emotional difficulties affect how students learn, behave and relate to others. This course gives teachers and school staff the knowledge and practical tools to promote wellbeing for all students, recognise early warning signs and respond with confidence. It is designed for teachers, tutors, school counsellors, support staff and school leaders working in primary, secondary and VET settings.

Through case studies, role-play and hands-on activities, participants learn how to build a whole-school approach to mental health: from prevention and everyday classroom strategies, to supporting a student in difficulty, communicating with families and knowing when and how to refer to specialist services. The course also covers the participants’ own role and limits, and how to look after their own wellbeing while supporting others.

Participants return to their school with a practical toolkit and an action plan for student wellbeing that can be shared with colleagues. The course fits Erasmus+ KA1 mobility projects (KA121 and KA122) and supports schools working on inclusion, wellbeing and early school leaving prevention.
