For many students, technology can be the key that opens the door to learning. A tool that reads a text aloud, turns speech into writing, organises tasks visually or gives students another way to communicate can make the difference between being left behind and taking a full part in class. This ICT for inclusion course shows you how to use digital tools and assistive technology to remove barriers and help every student learn, participate and succeed. It is designed for primary and secondary classrooms, and no advanced digital skills are needed.
Over five days, you will discover the accessibility features already built into the devices and platforms you use every day, such as text-to-speech, dictation, captions, magnification and reading tools. You will explore apps and digital resources that support reading and writing, communication, attention, organisation and emotional regulation, and learn how to use them with students who have different needs, including learning difficulties, ADHD, autism, and visual or hearing impairments. You will also learn how to create accessible digital materials, adapt activities to different levels, organise inclusive digital collaboration and choose tools safely and responsibly. Every session is hands-on, so you will try each tool yourself and leave with materials ready to use.
By the end of the course, you will have designed an inclusive digital lesson or support plan for your students and a personal toolkit of accessible digital resources.
