Painting is a way to relax, slow down and forget about everyday worries for a while. It is also a powerful way to express what we feel, discover new ideas and find calm and joy. This Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course invites you to experience the benefits of painting and creative expression for yourself, and to learn how to bring them into your classroom. No previous painting experience is needed: beginners, first-time painters and those who think they “can’t draw” are all welcome.
Through guided painting sessions and creative exercises inspired by art therapy, you will explore how art can boost creativity, intuition and self-expression, help you manage everyday stress, and give you a gentle, non-verbal way to explore emotions. You will also see how creative practice builds resourcefulness, the ability to find new and clever solutions when facing difficulties, which matters in the daily lives of both teachers and students. You will try different techniques, materials and approaches, from free painting and colour exploration to guided activities on emotions and personal reflection. Finally, you will learn how to adapt these activities for your students, using art to support their wellbeing, self-expression and creativity in a safe, positive classroom atmosphere.
The course uses art-based activities for wellbeing and education. It is not clinical art therapy and does not replace professional support.
By the end of this professional development course, you will have your own creative practice for wellbeing and a set of art-based activities ready to use with your students.
