Science, technology, engineering, art and maths come alive when students use them to solve real problems, build things with their own hands and explore the technologies that are shaping their world. This STEAM course shows you how to design engaging projects that combine artificial intelligence, basic robotics and design challenges, using project-based learning as the framework that ties everything together. It works for primary and secondary classrooms and does not require previous experience with coding or AI.
Over five days, you will learn how to plan STEAM projects around real-world questions, guide students through the engineering design process and turn mistakes into opportunities to improve. You will get hands-on with beginner-friendly robotics and coding tools, discover simple and safe ways to introduce AI concepts and tools to students, and explore how art and creativity make STEAM projects more meaningful. Through practical workshops and team challenges, you will experience each activity as a student first, then adapt it to your own subject, age group and resources. You will also learn how to assess STEAM projects and use AI responsibly in the classroom.
By the end of the week, you will have designed your own STEAM project for your students and created a plan to introduce STEAM, robotics and AI into your teaching.
