Environmental challenges are among the most important issues students will face in their lives, and artificial intelligence is one of the most powerful tools they will grow up with. This course brings the two together, showing you how to integrate AI into STEM and environmental education through real-world projects focused on sustainability.
Over five days, you will explore how machine learning works in a simple, hands-on way, using beginner-friendly tools such as Teachable Machine to train small AI models with images, sounds or movements. You will discover how these models can help students raise awareness about environmental problems and design their own solutions, from recognising types of waste for recycling to identifying plants and animals or monitoring local environmental issues. Through hands-on activities, collaborative design challenges and reflection, you will experience how AI can support competency-based learning, connect science, technology and sustainability, and encourage students to take action in their communities. You will also reflect on the responsible and ethical use of AI with students.
By the end of the course, you will have designed your own AI-powered sustainability project for your students, ready to use in your classroom.
