CLIL and bilingual teaching: practical strategies for any subject

About this course

This CLIL course for teachers is designed for educators who teach, or will soon teach, their subject through a foreign language, most often English. Teaching content and language at the same time is one of the biggest challenges in bilingual schools: students need to understand complex concepts while still developing their language skills, and teachers need strategies that work in real classrooms. This course gives you a clear, practical framework to make bilingual teaching effective in any subject, from science and maths to history, art or physical education.

Over five days, you will explore the principles of Content and Language Integrated Learning and turn them into concrete classroom practice. You will learn how to plan CLIL lessons, scaffold language and content, adapt materials, encourage students to speak and assess both subject knowledge and language. Practical workshops, lesson analysis and collaborative design activities ensure that everything you learn can be applied straight away.

By the end of the week, you will have designed your own CLIL lesson or mini-unit for your subject, received feedback from peers and trainers and created a plan to strengthen bilingual teaching in your school.
