A calm, organised and respectful classroom is the starting point for any learning to happen. Yet low-level disruption, unclear routines and difficult behaviour can quickly drain energy and take time away from teaching. This classroom management course gives you practical, proven strategies to set clear expectations, build effective routines, manage behaviour positively and create a classroom climate where students feel safe, respected and ready to learn. It is designed for primary, secondary and vocational classrooms, including workshops and practical training spaces.
Over five days, you will explore how to prevent problems before they start through strong relationships, clear rules and well-planned routines. You will learn simple techniques to keep lessons flowing, gain students' attention, handle transitions and deal calmly with low-level disruption. You will also practise responding to more challenging behaviour with consistency and fairness, using positive reinforcement, logical consequences and restorative conversations instead of punishment alone. Through case studies, role-plays and practical workshops, you will adapt every strategy to your own students, subject and context.
By the end of the week, you will have designed your own classroom management plan and created a set of routines and strategies you can start using as soon as you return to school.
