Professional knowledge only becomes useful when we can apply it in real, changing situations, and that depends on soft skills such as communication, empathy, creativity, cooperation and emotional balance. These skills will matter more and more in the future, for teachers and for their students. This Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course shows practical, creative ways to develop soft skills by combining non-formal education methods with simple digital tools and educational technology you can use with your students.
You will work with four main approaches, each supported by technology. Through music, you will discover how it can promote social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, tolerance and mutual understanding, and help prevent aggression and radicalisation, using free music-creation and collaborative apps. Through art, you will explore how creative activities can celebrate cultural diversity, improve accessibility and equal opportunities, and counter discrimination and exclusion, using digital art and design tools. Through drama and digital storytelling, including improvisation, role-plays, short plays and short videos recorded with your phone or tablet, you will practise your English while discovering activities that make learning active and engaging. Finally, through mindfulness and compassion practices, supported by guided audio and wellbeing apps, you will learn how to create a joyful learning atmosphere, support your learners and inspire them with enthusiasm. Every session is practical, so you try each activity yourself before adapting it to your classes.
By the end of this professional development course, you will have a varied toolkit of non-formal and digital activities to develop soft skills in yourself and your students, online and offline.
