STEAM and creative learning for early childhood

About this course

Young children are natural scientists, engineers and artists: they ask endless questions, build, test, take things apart and imagine new worlds. This STEAM course shows you how to turn that natural curiosity into rich learning experiences that combine science, technology, engineering, art and maths through play. It is designed for those working with children from 0 to 6 who want practical, creative and age-appropriate ideas they can use straight away.

Over five days, you will explore how young children learn through exploration, play and hands-on experiences, and how STEAM can be part of everyday routines without needing expensive materials. You will try out simple science experiments, building and construction challenges, maths games, loose parts play, art projects and screen-free activities that introduce early thinking skills like sequencing and problem-solving. You will also learn how to set up inspiring learning corners, ask questions that encourage children to think and investigate, observe and document children's learning, and involve families in STEAM at home.

By the end of the week, you will have designed your own STEAM project or learning corner for your group of children and created a plan to bring creative learning into your daily practice.
